Every surgery gives a street a safer tomorrow
Spaying, neutering, and rabies vaccination โ the most humane, effective, and lasting solution to stray animal overpopulation and disease on India’s streets.
Sterilisation is one of the most powerful acts of compassion
When we spay or neuter a rescued animal, we are not just treating one life, we are breaking a cycle of suffering that could have lasted generations. Every procedure protects the animal, the community, and public health.
๐พ
Prevents Suffering
No more litters born into a life of pain, hunger, or neglect on the streets.
๐
Stops Rabies
Every animal vaccinated on admission protects both humans and the surrounding community.
๐ก
Safer Streets
Neutered males are calmer, less aggressive, and far less likely to cause injury.

Healthier Females
Spaying dramatically extends the lifespan and improves the health of female animals.
“No animal that arrives at Vaikuntha is ever turned away โ no matter how critical, abandoned, or hopeless the situation appears.”

Street Dog Population Control in India
India’s street dog population is closely tied to human population density and the availability of waste food. Dogs survive on leftovers and scraps, and their numbers naturally rise and fall with the communities they live around. This makes the problem deeply rooted in how we as a society manage our waste โ and how we treat the animals that share our streets.
Sterilisation combined with anti-rabies vaccination is universally recognised as the most effective and humane method of population and disease control. It is not a quick fix โ it takes sustained effort โ but it is the only method that has proven long-term results across hundreds of cities worldwide.
Although Indian law requires local government bodies to implement Animal Birth Control programmes, most cities do not. The responsibility falls almost entirely on NGOs like Vaikuntha, with no financial support from the state.
Surgical Care at Vaikuntha
Every surgery performed at Vaikuntha meets the highest veterinary standards. Our operating facility is fully sterile, and all procedures are carried out by qualified veterinary surgeons with years of experience in animal welfare surgeries.
We do not cut corners. Whether it is a routine spay or a complex emergency surgery, the animal receives the same level of care and attention from our team.
๐ฅ All surgeries performed by licensed veterinarians
01
Pre-Operative Assessment
Every animal is thoroughly examined before surgery. Blood work, weight checks, and a full physical are completed. Only animals deemed healthy enough proceed to the operating table.
02
Surgery & Anesthesia
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia in our sterile operating room. Spay and neuter surgeries typically take 20โ45 minutes, after which the animal is moved to recovery.
03
Recovery & Discharge
Animals are monitored around the clock during recovery. They receive pain relief, proper nutrition, and wound care. Discharge happens only when they are fully stable and safe to return.
